Anti-Harassment Policies

Brooklyn Comic Con is a space for celebration, creativity, and community—and that means safety for everyone. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment, discrimination, or abuse.

Harassment includes but is not limited to:

  • Offensive verbal comments (related to race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, appearance, etc.)

  • Intimidation, stalking, or following

  • Unwanted physical contact or sexual attention

  • Disruption of programming, events, or other activities

  • Hate symbols, slurs, or cosplay meant to provoke or offend marginalized groups

See Something, Say Something

If you experience or witness harassment:

  1. Report it immediately to a staff member, security, or any volunteer wearing a BKCC shirt.

  2. Visit the Check In or Security Booth for support, or flag any staff member for help.

We take all reports seriously. Anyone found harassing others may be removed without refund, and may be banned from future events.

No Discrimination. Period.

Brooklyn Comic Con does not allow discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, ability, appearance, religion, or fandom. Be conscious and respectful: ask first and always respect a person's right to say no. Cosplay is NOT consent. This is an inclusive space, and everyone deserves to enjoy it without fear.

Cosplay & Prop Policies

If you are in possession of any unacceptable prop you will be asked to return it to your vehicle/its home. Multiple requests may result in a confiscated prop by the event.

  • Any bodypaint must be sealed, dry, and non transferable.

  • Cosplay cannot have bare feet. Sandals are acceptable.

  • No roller wear is allowed. This includes scooters, skateboards, rollerskates, heeleys. etc.

  • Costumes/cosplay with vulgar remarks, imagery, or hate speech/symbols in any language will not be tolerated.

  • Live steel is not allowed at the event. This includes both costume and prop. Any live steel purchased must stay packaged until outside con spaces.

  • Costumes/cosplay must not violate New York indecent exposure laws.

Allowed Props

  • Foam, cardboard, paper mâché, Worbla, 3D printed plastic, lightweight wood or PVC

  • LED lights, sound effects, and light-up gadgets (as long as they’re not overly disruptive or strobing)

  • Fake/prop weapons clearly marked or designed as not real (e.g. Nerf-style, con-safe swords, sci-fi/fantasy designs)

  • Any firearm looking prop is REQUIRED to have an orange top and have any firing mechanisms disabled.

Not Allowed

  • Real weapons of any kind, including firearms (BB guns included), knives, metal swords, nunchucks, or anything with a sharp edge

  • Projectiles (including Nerf darts, arrows, BBs, water, or non-sealed glitter)

  • Lasers/Props with include lasers

Peace Bonding Required

All props must be inspected at entry. If your prop passes, we’ll tag it with a peace bond (ziptie). Any untagged or unsafe prop may be held at check-in or returned to your vehicle.

Cosplay is NOT consent!

This is your reminder that cosplay does not equal consent—touching someone's cosplay or prop without consent is not okay. And remember, props are for show, not for poking people in line.

Photo & Video Policies

Be respectful and ask permission before photographing cosplayers. Cosplay is not consent.

No big photography setups allowed indoors—no light stands, backdrops, or blocking walkways. If you want to shoot professionally, we encourage you to apply for a Press & Media Pass here: https://www.bkcomiccon.com/press.

Filming is not allowed in bathrooms, medical areas, or private spaces.

After Party Policies

Our official after parties are 21+. Keep it sexy and keep it SAFE: consent is everything, always. This includes dancing, socialising, and taking photos.

  • No unwanted touching, harassment, or boundary-pushing.

  • No excessive intoxication, aggression, or unsafe behavior.

  • Staff and security will be present—if you see something, say something.

  • Respect all performers, staff, and fellow partygoers.

BKCC has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. You will be removed if you violate any policies.
